Resin Jointing Compound for Concrete Block Paving and Granite Setts – ECOFINE

Ecofine resin jointing compound – strong, environmentally sustainable joint mortar

ECOFINE is a ready-to-use, single-component resin jointing compound that cures on contact with air. Thanks to its outstanding properties and high strength, ECOFINE paving joint mortar is suitable for almost any application around the home, in particular as a resin jointing compound for concrete block paving, granite setts, natural stone, or outdoor ceramic tiles.

ECOFINE resin jointing compound is suitable for use on driveways, patios, paths around the house, and pool surrounds

The jointing mortar is made from 98% natural raw materials, sourced from recycled or renewable materials. The bio-based binder consists mainly of natural oils, such as rapeseed oil. ECOFINE jointing compound has received several awards in recognition of this.

Frequently Asked Questions:

Can opened buckets of 1-component jointing compound (Easy / Ecofine) be stored and reused?

In the case of single-component paving jointing compound, it is possible to temporarily preserve the material after opening. To do this, pour clean water into the container until the jointing compound is completely covered. Then reseal the container. In this way, the material can be stored for up to one month. Unfortunately, this is not possible with two-component products. Once mixed, they react completely within the specified working time.

Can ROMEX® paving jointing mortars and gravel binders be used around swimming pools and pool areas?

Yes, absolutely. In principle, all of our two-component epoxy and polyurethane products can be used around swimming pools and pool areas. These include the paving jointing mortars - DRAIN and - D1, as well as the gravel binders - 201 DEKO UV and - 202 DEKO EP. These products are resistant to chlorine and salt water, which makes them suitable for such applications. However, they must not be used under water, for example inside a swimming pool, pond, or stream.

In addition, the single-component paving jointing mortar - ECOFINE can also be used around swimming pools and pool areas. Although it is a single-component product, it is also resistant to chlorine and salt water, as tested and confirmed by an independent institute.

We do not recommend using other ready-to-use single-component mortars, such as - EASY, because they may gradually begin to dissolve over time. Discolouration may also occur.

What does ROMEX® recommend for jointing ceramic tiles and dark paving slabs?

We recommend using - ECOFINE. Jointing with ECOFINE does not leave residue on the surface of the stone. The slabs must be bonded and laid on a water-permeable base. Naturally, our bedding products are suitable for constructing the appropriate base layer.

Generally speaking, almost all other ROMEX® jointing mortars can also be used. However, when using two-component jointing mortars on dark surfaces, exposure to weathering may cause a whitish or greyish haze to appear. More information on this can be found on the page about resin film.

Which jointing compound is best suited for use in high temperatures?

ECOFINE is the best solution for the residential sector during hot weather. It allows for calmer and more convenient working conditions in summer. As a single-component jointing mortar, ECOFINE has a completely different reaction mechanism and reacts much more slowly at high temperatures than two-component mortars. Since the material is only taken out in portions during application, the bag remains usable for up to one hour without any problem. If the application takes longer than expected, the contents of the bag can be transferred into a bucket and covered with water so that the entire compound is submerged. This makes it possible to preserve the material for up to one month.
