SpeedCoat Aqua 2-in-1 anti-corrosion fast-drying paint
SpeedCoat Aqua quick-drying anti-corrosive paint is a water-based acrylic DTM paint designed for use in environments with low or moderate corrosion levels - up to C3 according to ISO 12944. It provides long-lasting protection for 15-25 years.
SpeedCoat Aqua fast-drying anti-corrosive paint is a 2-in-1 paint - it combines the properties of a primer and a topcoat. It is easy to apply, dries very quickly, does not require sandblasting of the substrate, and adheres perfectly to many types of ferrous and non-ferrous metals. It is ideal for both protecting metal during production and renovating existing structures.
Key features:
- single-component (1K) 2-in-1 acrylic anti-corrosion paint
- provides long-lasting protection - up to 20 years - see systems
- especially recommended for protecting metal during production
- highly resistant to external conditions and impact
- does not require sandblasting of the substrate (St2 or Sa2)
- can be applied directly to steel, cast iron, well-adhering paint coatings, etc.
- dries very quickly – touch dry in 1-2 hours, recoatable in 1-4 hours
- water-soluble, contains few VOCs
- safe for people and the environment
- available in a wide range of RAL and NCS colors
- Semi-gloss finish
Coverage:
- hydrodynamic spray - from 4.5 m²/l per coat
- brush - from 6-8 m²/l per coat
- roller - from 10 m²/l per coat

SpeedCoat Aqua adhesion to non-ferrous metals:
For non-ferrous metals, SpeedCoat Aqua 2-in-1 quick-drying anti-corrosion paint has excellent adhesion to galvanized steel and stainless steel. For other metals, such as copper or aluminum, special substrate preparation or the use of Multiprim paint for aluminum and smooth substrates may be required to achieve the best adhesion.
Detailed information is provided in the tables below.
Key:
- GT is the result of testing using the Cross Cut method;
- The best adhesion is GT0. The following numbers (1, 2, 3) indicate poorer adhesion (the higher the number, the poorer the adhesion);
- For more information, see here.
| GALVANIZED STEEL | ||
|---|---|---|
| Product | Substrate preparation | Adhesion |
| SpeedCoat Aqua | water + detergent | GT0 |
| Multiprim | water + detergent | GT0 |
| Conclusion: SpeedCoat Aqua and Multiprim give the same result on galvanized steel. No acid preparation of the substrate is required. | ||
| STAINLESS STEEL | ||
|---|---|---|
| Product | Substrate preparation | Adhesion |
| SpeedCoat Aqua | water + detergent | GT0 |
| Multiprim | water + detergent | GT0 |
| Conclusion: SpeedCoat Aqua and Multiprim produce the same result on stainless steel. Acidic substrate preparation is not required. | ||
| ALUMINUM | ||
|---|---|---|
| Product | Substrate preparation | Adhesion |
| SpeedCoat Aqua | water + detergent | poor (adhesion is poor if we only clean and wash the substrate) |
| diluted sulfuric acid + rinse with water | GT1 | |
| Multiprim | water + detergent | GT0 |
| diluted sulfuric acid + rinse with water | GT0 | |
| Conclusion: Multiprim gives much better results on aluminum than SpeedCoat Aqua. No acid preparation of the substrate is required for Multiprim. Acid preparation of the substrate is required for SpeedCoat Aqua. For projects where aluminum is not exposed to mechanical stress, the adhesion of SpeedCoat Aqua to properly prepared aluminum may be sufficient. However, before applying it, we recommend testing it on a smaller area to confirm the good adhesion of SpeedCoat Aqua. |

| COPPER | ||
|---|---|---|
| Product | Substrate preparation | Adhesion |
| SpeedCoat Aqua | water + detergent | GT2 |
| 10% hydrochloric acid + rinse with water | GT0 | |
| Multiprim | water + detergent | GT2 |
| 10% hydrochloric acid + rinse with water | GT0 | |
| Conclusion: SpeedCoat Aqua and Multiprim give the same result on copper. For best adhesion, it is useful to prepare the substrate with acid. During testing, cleaning with a 10% acid solution did not change the appearance of the copper. However, we obviously recommend conducting a test cleaning on a smaller area to confirm that the aesthetic effect will be satisfactory. |

Notes:
Why does the can say that the paint is only 0.99 l, 0.97 l, or 0.93 l?
The total volume of paint consists of the volume of the base and the volume of the pigment.
- The base volume for a 1 l package is as follows: base A 0.99 l, base B 0.97 l, base C 0.93 l.
- The pigment volume for a 1 l package:
- for light colors (base A and B), approx. 1-5% of pigment is added,
- for dark colors (base C), approx. 5-10% pigment is added.
The total volume depends on the color, but is very close to 1 l.
The exact volume of a 1 l package, depending on the color, is presented in the table on the right/below.
The volume of 5-liter and 20-liter packages varies accordingly.
