Flexible anti-corrosion paint - Elastometal
The unique formula of Elastometal paint, i.e., high-quality anti-corrosive pigments and a flexible, tight coating, allows for permanent corrosion prevention—even when applied to rust. The thick (350 µm), highly flexible (> 200%), waterproof coating limits the access of air and moisture, thus stopping the development of rust. Elastometal does not require sandblasting of the substrate. It is the ideal solution for renovating the protection of steel structures.
Applying 350 μm of Elastometal paint to steel, including rusted steel, provides one of the most durable forms of corrosion protection. The expected durability of the system is 15-25 years (a 10-year manufacturer's warranty for corrosion protection is available*). Durability comparable to epoxy, polyurethane, or galvanizing systems, which require a sandblasted substrate.

Flexible anti-corrosive paint - Elastometal is a single-component, high-strength, thick-film, permanently flexible anti-corrosive paint based on styrene-acrylic copolymer and zinc phosphate. The product has excellent adhesion to most substrates. The paint can be applied without primer to rust, seasoned galvanized steel (min. 1 year), old painted substrates, and of course clean steel, while maintaining all the protective properties of the coating. It is easy to apply - single-component. No priming required.
* A 10-year warranty for corrosion protection is issued by the paint manufacturer RD-Coatings and the company performing the painting work. In order to obtain the warranty, the work must be inspected by RD-Coatings. The work must be carried out by an approved contractor in accordance with RD-Coatings' 10-year warranty procedures.
FLEXIBLE ANTI-CORROSION PAINT - a revolution in anti-corrosion
Here are the key features of Elastometal flexible anti-corrosion paint that set it apart from other anti-corrosion paints. The following properties make Elastometal an excellent renovation system, both for protecting rusted steel structures and for renovating and sealing metal roofs.
Excellent corrosion protection
The unique formula provides long-term protection (15-25 years) in aggressive industrial environments (C5 High).
Very high elasticity (>200%)
Resistant to vibrations, deflections, and impacts. Does not crack or peel. Ideal for roofs where large metal surfaces shrink and expand due to thermal or elastic effects.
Sealing properties
The paint forms an impermeable coating against moisture and air. It stops the development of rust. In addition, RD-Elastometal, together with a reinforcing nonwoven fabric, forms a waterproof membrane for metal roofs and platforms.
- Sandblasting is not required - RD-Elastometal can be applied directly to cleaned rusty substrates or well-adhering old paint coatings, which significantly reduces costs and downtime.
- Adhesion to various substrates – the paint can be applied directly to corroded and clean steel, cast iron, seasoned zinc, old patinated and oxidized copper, and old paint coatings. For zinc less than 1 year old, aluminum, stainless steel, new copper, and lead, we recommend using Multiprim primer for fresh zinc and smooth substrates.
- Long service life - proven in tests (CORI) durability comparable to zinc, epoxy, and polyurethane systems applied to non-rusting steel. Possibility of obtaining a 10-year manufacturer's warranty for corrosion protection.
- Durability in outdoor conditions - high UV resistance; very high resistance to weather conditions, salt water, and most chemicals found in the atmosphere.
- Resistance to temperatures of 80 degrees Celsius in a dry environment.
- Combines the properties of a primer and a topcoat - easy-to-use single-component anti-corrosion product that generally does not require additional primers or topcoats for long-term protection.
- Health and environmentally friendly - Elastometal rust paint is water-soluble and has a low volatile organic compound content (8 g/l).
- Non-flammable paint, fire-retardant coating - Elastometal is non-flammable during and after application. ITB Classification Report - Broof(t1) - PN-EN 13501-5:2016 method 1.
- Dry fall of excessive splatter - When applied with a hydrodynamic drive, working on high structures, under good drying conditions, excessive splatter of RD-Elastometal paint turns into dry dust before it touches the ground. This helps to reduce the risk of painting surrounding objects and facilitates cleaning after work.
- High thixotropy - Does not drip, can be applied in thick layers, excellent edge coverage.
- Suitable for the food industry - as corrosion protection for structures and cladding (without direct contact with food) - PZH certified.

Why does the can say that the paint weighs only 0.99 kg, 0.97 kg, or 0.93 kg?
The total weight of the paint consists of the weight of the base and the weight of the pigment.
- The weight of the base for a 1 kg package is as follows: base A 0.99 kg, base B 0.97 kg, base C 0.93 kg.
- The weight of the pigment for a 1 kg package:
- for light colors (base A and B), approx. 1-5% of pigment is added,
- for dark colors (base C), approx. 5-10% pigment is added.
The total weight depends on the color, but is very close to 1 kg.
The exact weight of a 1 kg package, depending on the color, is presented in the table on the right/below.
The volume of 5 kg and 25 kg packages varies accordingly.

The possibility of application on rust without sandblasting significantly reduces the costs of surface preparation. However, in order for the coatings to be durable for years, they must be applied in the correct thickness. For 350+ μm systems, it is possible to obtain a 10-year manufacturer's warranty for corrosion protection*.
