Glocote fluorescent reflective paint

Glocote fluorescent paint creates a visible, matte coating in vivid colors. The fluorescent finish is suitable for marking areas that need to attract attention, e.g., indicating hazards. The colors are clearly visible during the day and at night (when illuminated). The paint is designed for indoor and outdoor use.

Glocote fluorescent reflective paint is easy to apply - it can be applied with a brush, roller, or airless spray. It is perfect for a wide range of applications, both industrial and private. Ideal for identifying dangerous objects, painting passages, posts, bridges, and other objects that require it. Fluorescent paint is also used for decorative applications.

  • The colors shown may differ slightly from the factory colors.
  • The manufacturer of Glocote fluorescent paint does not guarantee that the colors are exact matches for RAL fluorescent colors. However, in the case of Glocote paint:
    • the colors green, yellow, and orange are similar to the colors in the RAL color chart,
    • the colors red and pink are not equivalent to RAL colors. Red is slightly more pink than, for example, RAL 3024.

Coverage: approx. 10 m²/l

NOTE: Fluorescent paint is not a glow-in-the-dark product. For a finish that reflects light in dark environments, we recommend using luminescent paint.

Application:

In order to ensure maximum color visibility, it is recommended to apply a minimum of 2-3 coats of Glocote fluorescent paint to a white substrate. The product does not provide full color coverage with a single coat. We suggest painting the first coat horizontally, the second vertically, and then the third horizontally again. Careful and even application of each coat will result in an even coating.

For best results, we suggest using a good covering primer for Glocote fluorescent paint. In addition, to increase the UV resistance of the coating when using the paint outdoors, we suggest applying a protective varnish over the Glocote fluorescent paint.

Note: Fluorescent paints are very bright. Due to their specific pigmentation, they do not have the same color durability in outdoor conditions as beige and gray facade paints. Even with the use of a protective varnish, colors may fade over time, especially when exposed to strong UV radiation, as is the case with building facades exposed to the sun. The varnish only slows down the fading process, but cannot stop it completely.

Frequently asked questions:

1. What is fluorescent paint?

Fluorescent paint contains pigments that absorb ultraviolet (UV) radiation and then emit it as visible light. This makes the paint appear to glow intensely under UV light and also increases its visibility in daylight.

2. Where is fluorescent paint used?

  • Safety applications: warning signs, emergency exit markings, road lines.
  • Artistic projects: murals, paintings, creative decorations Entertainment: theaters, nightclubs, amusement parks.
  • Industrial applications: marking hazardous areas, improving visibility in low light conditions.

Glocote fluorescent paint is not recommended for use on surfaces where people or vehicles travel.

3. Is fluorescent paint the same as glow-in-the-dark paint?

No. Fluorescent paint requires a UV light source to glow. Glow-in-the-dark (phosphorescent) paint, on the other hand, stores light and emits it gradually, glowing without an external light source.

4. How do you apply fluorescent paint?

  • Surface preparation: the surface must be cleaned and primed if necessary.
  • Application: apply the paint with a brush, roller, or spray, according to the manufacturer's instructions. Several coats may be necessary to achieve optimal color intensity.
  • Drying time: allow adequate time between coats and after applying the final coat.

5. Does fluorescent paint require a special primer?

Not always, but it is recommended to use a white primer under Glocote fluorescent paint, which increases the intensity and effectiveness of the fluorescent paint. Applying paint over other colors may weaken the fluorescent effect.

6. How long does the fluorescent effect last?

The durability of the effect depends on the environmental conditions. UV rays can cause the paint to fade more quickly, but its durability can be extended by applying a protective varnish to Glocote fluorescent paint. However, even with the use of a protective varnish, colors may fade over time, especially when exposed to strong UV radiation, as is the case with building facades exposed to the sun. The varnish only slows down the fading process, but cannot stop it completely.

7. Is fluorescent paint safe?

Yes, provided it is used in accordance with the manufacturer's instructions. It is recommended to work in a well-ventilated area and to wear gloves and masks to avoid skin contact and inhalation of fumes.

8. Can fluorescent paint be removed?

Yes, it can be removed with standard paint removers or by sanding, depending on the type of surface.
