Shine reducing additive for alkyd paints Marine Matting Agent

Marine Matting Agent, a gloss-reducing additive for alkyd paints, allows for a variety of finishes, including matte, satin, or semi-gloss.

The gloss reducer additive was developed to reduce the gloss of Metalcote phthalic metal paint and Marine Gloss yacht paint. It is recommended to use it with the above-mentioned paints in the ratio described below. The additive can also be used with Floor Paint G136. However, in this case, the level of gloss reduction is not specified.

Recommended guidelines for using the additive:

  • adding 25% by volume will reduce gloss by approximately 35%,
  • adding 50% by volume will reduce gloss by approximately 80-85%,
  • adding 75% by volume will reduce gloss by approximately 90-95%.

Please note that the performance of the product will be similar to the original, but the more additive you add, the worse the covering power of the finish may be, which means that the product may require more coats to achieve full color coverage.

It is possible to add a matting additive only to the last, top layer.

The color in a matte finish may differ slightly from the original.

Note: All guidelines are approximate and it is recommended to test on a small area to ensure that the finish is satisfactory.

Matting Agent, a gloss-reducing additive for alkyd paints, is ideal for use wherever low reflectivity is required, e.g., on boat roofs. Together with Marine Gloss yacht paint, it can be used to protect yachts, motorboats, pontoons, boats, and other marine structures, on properly prepared wood, steel, aluminum, reinforced concrete, and GRP (glass fiber reinforced plastic).
