Acid Etch
Acid Etch is a product used to remove cement slurry and salt residues from new, smooth concrete. It is ideal for use in areas where the floor needs to be properly prepared before applying another coating.
Acid Etch is a combination of acids and surfactants in solution. Acid Etch should be used on very smooth surfaces and mechanically troweled concrete floors when sandblasting or mechanical grinding is not used. This product is essential when good paint adhesion to the surface is required and mechanical grinding of the surface is not possible.
Coverage: 7 m²/l

Frequently asked questions:
1. What is acid etching?
Acid etching involves applying an acid solution to a surface to remove dust and cement slurry, as well as to give the surface a rough texture that improves the adhesion of paints, coatings, and sealants. It can be used on both new and old concrete.
2. How to perform acid etching on concrete?
- Preparation: Thoroughly clean the surface of dirt, grease, and loose debris.
- Protection: Put on personal protective equipment – gloves, safety glasses, and a mask. Make sure the room is well ventilated.
- Dilution: Dilute the acid in a ratio of 3 parts water to 1 part etching agent. Remember to always pour the acid into the water. Never the other way around.
- Application: Apply the solution evenly with a brush or plastic watering can.
- Rinsing: Rinse the surface thoroughly with water after the chemical reaction is complete (i.e., when the solution stops foaming).
- Drying: Allow the surface to dry completely before applying any coating.
3. How long should the acid be left on the surface?
The reaction time depends on the degree of surface contamination, but for concrete it is usually around 30 minutes.
4. How do you neutralize the acid after etching?
Once the etching process is complete, the agent is automatically neutralized and can be safely rinsed off with clean water or collected with a mop.
5. Are there alternatives to acid etching?
Yes—alternatives include mechanical methods such as sandblasting or grinding, which physically roughen the surface.
6. Can you paint immediately after acid etching?
No. After etching, the surface must be thoroughly rinsed and neutralized, left to dry completely, and then ensured to be clean and free of salt residue before painting or coating.
7. How do you get rid of acid or water residue after rinsing?
After completing the chemical process, rinse the etchant residue down the drain. It will be neutralized naturally and will not have a negative impact on the environment.
