Primer for Difficult Surfaces - Multiprim
Multiprim Primer for Difficult Surfaces is a versatile, quick-drying 2-in-1 paint with excellent adhesion to many smooth, dense, and non-absorbent surfaces - from metals and plastics, to tiles and glass, to dense mineral substrates.
Multiprim is a 2-in-1 product—a primer and topcoat in one. It can be used as a primer to improve adhesion for other RD-Coatings topcoat systems (such as, for example, Elastometal, RD-Aquatop PU or Hydropox), or as a standalone topcoat for various substrates. It creates an attractive coating with a satin-matte finish (15%) and is available in a wide range of colors from the RAL and NCS color charts.
On what types of difficult surfaces can Multiprim be used?
- non-ferrous metals - aluminum, fresh zinc, and new galvanized steel (< 1 year), copper (new as well as old, patinated, and oxidized), stainless steel,
- ceramic tiles, glazed tiles, terracotta, and glass,
- selected plastics - including rigid PVC and PVDF,
- smooth wood and MDF boards,
- dense, low-absorbency mineral substrates - including dense concrete, brick, and clinker.
Multiprim primer for difficult surfaces dries very quickly - it is touch-dry after about 1 hour, and the next coat can be applied after about 4 hours (at 20°C).
Multiprim is a water-based paint with a low content of VOCs. As a result, it does not emit unpleasant odors during application. In addition, Multiprim meets the requirements of the Eurofins Indoor Air Comfort GOLD program, which confirms very low emissions of volatile compounds into the air after the coating has cured (Check out the report).

Why choose Multiprim?

Excellent adhesion to difficult substrates
Multiprim has been developed for surfaces where standard primers and paints may have difficulty achieving durable adhesion. It performs exceptionally well on aluminium, tiles, rigid PVC, glass, MDF and many other smooth, dense and non-absorbent substrates.

2-in-1 paint – primer and topcoat in one
Multiprim can be used as an adhesion-promoting primer for subsequent coats and, in many applications, also as a ready-to-use topcoat. This helps simplify the coating system and reduce the number of products required.

Fast drying time
The coating is touch-dry after approximately 1 hour, and the next coat can be applied after around 4 hours at a temperature of approximately 20°C.

Attractive finish and a wide range of colours
Multiprim provides an attractive satin-matt finish (15%). It can be tinted in a wide range of RAL and NCS colours, making it easy to match technical, decorative and finishing elements.

Low VOC content and no unpleasant odour
The paint contains a low level of volatile organic compounds and does not emit the strong, unpleasant odour during application that is characteristic of many solvent-based products.

Water-based product
Multiprim is a single-component, water-based paint that is easy to apply and comfortable to use. After painting, tools can be cleaned easily with water, without the need for solvents.

Indoor Air Comfort GOLD
The tested Multiprim sample met the requirements of the Eurofins Indoor Air Comfort GOLD programme, one of the most demanding systems for assessing emissions of volatile substances from materials intended for indoor use.

For indoor and outdoor use
Multiprim can be used in a wide range of indoor and outdoor applications, further increasing its versatility.

High coverage
The product coverage is approximately 8–10 m²/l, depending on the type and absorbency of the substrate, the required coating thickness and the application method.

One product instead of several specialist primers
Multiprim replaces many primers designed for individual types of surfaces. Instead of selecting a separate primer for aluminium, galvanised steel, tiles, glass or PVC, in many applications one versatile primer with a broad range of uses is sufficient – Multiprim.

Base for durable anti-corrosion systems
Multiprim can be overcoated with Monoguard, Elastometal and Metal Unicoat paints. With the appropriate coating system, it can help create durable anti-corrosion protection suitable even for C5 environments.
